Everyday ways to reclaim your Divine Feminine Energy

Divine feminine energy, to me at least, isn’t just about being soft, pretty, nurturing, or whatever watered-down version social media likes to sell. It’s deeper than that.

It’s the energy of intuition, creation, sensuality, emotion, transformation, receiving, nurturing, and knowing. It’s being able to feel deeply without letting every feeling control you. It’s knowing when to move, when to wait, when to create, when to nurture something, and when to let something die because its season is over.

And it’s definitely not weakness.

Divine feminine energy can be loving and gentle, but she can also be protective, sexual, commanding, mysterious, angry, destructive, and regenerative. The same energy that gives life can also say, “This no longer belongs here,” and remove it. I also don’t believe feminine energy belongs exclusively to women. Everybody carries feminine and masculine qualities. The feminine receives, feels, creates, intuitively understands, and flows. The masculine gives structure, direction, protection, and action. Ideally, they work together instead of one completely overpowering the other.

But there’s a shadow side too.

Intuition without discernment can turn into believing every thought or coincidence is a message. Nurturing without boundaries becomes self-sacrifice. Being receptive can turn into sitting around waiting for life to happen. Emotional depth can become emotional chaos. Even spirituality needs balance.

So when I talk about being in my divine feminine, I’m not talking about becoming passive or pretending everything is love and light.

How Life Has Stolen the Divine Feminine Energy from Women Specifically

We’ve been taught to disconnect from our divine feminine almost from the time we were little girls. Cover up. Sit differently. Don’t wear that. Be more conservative. Don’t move like that. Don’t let your hips swing too much. Somewhere along the way, simply existing comfortably in our bodies became something that had to be corrected.

Some of us were called “fast” before we were even old enough to understand what that meant. Our bodies developed, and suddenly the responsibility was placed on us to make other people comfortable with them. The natural way we walked was called seductive. Confidence could be mistaken for attention-seeking. Sensuality became something shameful instead of something that belonged to us.

Then adulthood teaches us to work constantly, ignore our intuition, control our emotions, never need anybody, and feel guilty when we rest.

So reclaiming divine feminine energy, for me, is also unlearning.

It’s learning that my body isn’t something I have to apologize for. That softness isn’t weakness. That sensuality doesn’t automatically mean sexuality. That intuition deserves discernment, not dismissal. That I’m allowed to rest, receive, create, nurture, set boundaries, take up space, and move through the world without constantly shrinking myself to make somebody else comfortable.

Taking Back Your Divine Feminine Energy - And it Doesn't Cost A Thing!

Let me tell you how you can take back that energy in a practical way, it does not require crystals, retreats, new clothes, expensive skincare, or buying anything at all. A lot of it is simply undoing the ways we were taught to disconnect from ourselves.

  • Move your body without correcting it. Put music on and dance. Let your hips move and shake that ass. Stretch. Sway. Walk slowly. Stop monitoring whether your movements look “too sexy” or attract attention. Your body belongs to you before it belongs to anyone’s gaze. Move the way you feel natural or unnatural. Walk with the switch and shimmy your hips naturally program to. Honestly.....the over correction in our walks is probably one of the reasons our lower backs hurt... I built a powerful woman playlist on Spotify. Give it a try

  • Spend time actually being in your body. Take a long shower. Sit in the sun. Walk barefoot in the grass. Feel the wind. Lotion your skin slowly with something you already own. Eat without scrolling. Sensuality is simply allowing yourself to experience your senses.

  • Stop treating rest like a reward. You don't have to finish every task before you're allowed to sit down. Take the nap. Lay in bed for twenty minutes. Sit outside and do absolutely nothing. Rest is part of being alive, not something you earn through exhaustion.

  • Wear what makes you feel beautiful. Not what makes you appropriately feminine, appropriately modest, appropriately sexy, or appropriately invisible. Start noticing how often you're dressing around other people's comfort instead of your own.

  • Practice receiving. Let somebody compliment you without immediately rejecting it and say "Thank you". Accept help. Let someone hold the door. Let your partner do something for you without feeling obligated to immediately repay it. Receiving is a skill when you've spent your life being hyper-independent.

  • Listen to your intuition, but use discernment. When something feels off, notice it instead of immediately talking yourself out of it. You don't have to assume every feeling is supernatural. Just stop automatically believing everyone else's interpretation before your own.

  • Create something with no purpose. Sing. Write. Cook. Garden. Decorate. Draw. Do your hair differently. Rearrange a room. Creativity doesn't always need to become content, income, or a side hustle.

  • Say no without writing a dissertation afterward. Boundaries are feminine too. “I don't want to.” “That doesn't work for me.” “Not today.” You don't have to make yourself uncomfortable so someone else can remain comfortable. ANNNDDDDD don't apologize for saying no!

  • Let yourself feel things before trying to fix them. If you're sad, be sad for a minute. If you're angry, ask what the anger is protecting. If you're happy, let yourself enjoy it without waiting for something bad to happen.

  • Spend intentional time with other women.  (this one may be hard, a lot of us have become lone wolves....but we need our packs) Talk. Cook together. Trade stories. Ask older women questions. Listen to younger women. A lot of feminine knowledge historically traveled through relationships rather than classrooms.

  • Reconnect with nature's cycles. Watch the moon change. Notice the seasons. Pay attention to when your own energy rises and falls. Everything in nature has periods of productivity and periods of rest. We are the ones pretending humans shouldn't. For the women who menstruate, pay attention to your cycle as well, there are moments in our cycle where we need to prioritize rest and we just keep "powering through".

  • Speak kindly about your own body.  This is the one I struggle with the most. Especially the parts I was taught to hide. Your stomach, thighs, breasts, hips, scars, stretch marks, whatever it is. You don't have to wake up tomorrow loving every inch of yourself. Start by refusing to insult the body carrying you through your life. Don't step in the mirror and let the first thing that comes out of your mouth be "I'm so fat' anymore...I promise I'll stop too, let's stop together.

  • Take up a little more space. Laugh loudly. Wear the bright color, the ball gown, or the crown. Give your opinion. Sit comfortably. Ask the question. Stop automatically shrinking your personality, body, voice, or presence because someone once taught you that being noticeable was dangerous.

And probably the biggest one: Ask yourself, “Do I actually want this, or was I taught that this is what a good woman is supposed to want?”

That question is free. And depending on the answer, it can undo a whole lot. Besides....what is a good woman anyway? You're as good as you believe you are and you don't need external validation for your opinion of yourself to be true!
